My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

ROMEO is a 7 year old neutered black male Lab who weighs 65 pounds. Romeo is a moderately low energy level lab. He loves to be loved on. He gets along well with other dogs. Although was a little intimidated with the resident dogs (Danes), he was more comfortable when the others were more his size. He is house trained. Can be confined to an area of the house without pushing through the boundaries. He's not a regular barker. I heard him bark only a few times and that was because he needed out. He will do his business and want to come right back in. He likes it inside. He is an easy foster and will make some family or person a great dog! What a sweetheart! Romeo is a handsome and friendly guy looking for a forever family! He was a stray to the shelter. He is
good with other dogs. No cat history so cats are unknown. Romeo is approved for kids ages 10+.

Update: Romeo has arrived at his brand new foster home! What a sweet gentleman. He was wonderful on the trip home, immediately laying down and didn’t say a word. He seems to have learned some good lessons as he was great on the leash with very little reminders. He's settling in nicely and has wonderful house manners.

Update:: Romeo continues to learn things and go for outings. He visited a PetsMart over the weekend and said hello to several dogs there. He does well in his playgroups. Romeo is looking for an adopter who will continue with his training and let him enjoy himself. A fenced-in yard would be very nice for this boy.

Update:: Romeo has learned a lot of commands and how to walk on the leash without getting totally excited. He's been in playgroups with other dogs and has done very well. He needs an experienced family to continue to guide him. This boy loves his humans.

Update (1/30): Romeo is a 65 pound hunk of love who likes snuggling with his people and going on walks. He gets excited when he sees other dogs and people and may benefit from an easy harness. He will counter surf, and he is quite deft at stealing bites of human food when his humans aren't looking, so his fosters have been clearing off counters to avoid enticing him. Romeo wants nothing more than to be loved on and will make a wonderful companion for some lucky human(s).

Update (1/23): Romeo has made himself at home and is a very loving dog. He follows us around the house and wants to be where we are. He likes soft toys although he is not sure what to make of them when they squeak. He gets along with the resident senior golden and is friendly with other dogs. We think he would do fine as an only dog as well. Romeo is a moderate energy level dog who likes cuddling with his people and going on walks. He is a good communicator and will let you know when he needs to go out--he does a happy dance and makes the most charming pleasure sounds. He will also let you know when he wants his ears rubbed--he burrows his head in your chest. He is every bit the charmer. Romeo counter-surfed only once! He is uncrated and he does fine when his fosters leave the house. He gets excited on walks and may benefit from an easy walk harness. This handsome fellow will steal your heart, guaranteed!

Update (1/15): Romeo has settled in nicely and appears to feel quite at ease. He loves to be petted and will put his head into your chest to get rubbed. He is also quite the snuggler and will go on sofas and beds to be with his people. Romeo is incredibly sweet and well-behaved (he knows sit and lie down). He has a lot of energy and gets very excited to go on walks. He gets along with the resident dog. He is all that his name implies and more. He can't wait to find his forever home!
