My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Miss Opal's story... We brought Miss Opal into rescue in April of this year. She had been hit by a car and was left with several serious injuries. She had been cared for by a wonderful group of people and vets. We were lucky enough to be able to bring this sweet girl into our rescue. After several weeks we realized Opal’s leg wasn’t healing the way we had all hoped that it would. After consulting with our vet and a specialist it was determined that Opals leg was worse than we had originally thought. We were informed that with major surgery her leg could potentially be fixed, but there were no guarantees. So as a rescue and on the advice of our vet and the specialist, we decided that the leg was a hindrance for our girl. On April 28th Opal’s leg was amputated. She has healed quite well and is doing just fine as a tripod! After all this girl has been through she is an incredibly sweet and loving girl.

We are now looking for a forever home for Opal. She loves her ppl once she gets to know you. It takes her a little time to warm up but once she does she is a super sweet girl! She does fine with other dogs. The calmer the better. She does seem to get along with male dogs better. So we would prefer a home with no female dogs. (They can be crabby to each other!) I d0 have a female puppy that annoys her and she has corrected her a few times but she is also a pretty calm girl. But she goes out in the yard with 6 other dogs and does just fine. She plays and runs and chases them. She will do fine with cats as long as they are not afraid of dogs and run. If they run Opal will chase them. But she chases and barks at them. She has never tried to hurt my cat. But my cat was also raised with dogs and is use to them. If your cat is timid it may not be a good match! She loves to snuggle on the couch or her dog bed under blankets. She is full of personality and is really fun! LOVES her belly rubs! Oh and she will chase chickens and ducks if you have them! So I don't recommend letting her run free if you have chickens! lol She is not chasing for fun! It is a job to her.

(We are not sure about kids... She seems a little nervous around them. So we would say at least 10 yrs and up,)
