My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

SHELBY is a 1 year old spayed yellow female Lab who weighs 48 pounds. She is your friend from the minute you meet her. She will shadow you to make sure you know she is there and would love to be played with. She thinks she should be a LapLab and will crawl in yours if you sit on the ground next to her. Likes to retrieves and brings it back most of the time. She loves to play with the other pups If you are looking for a buddy who is also good looking and friendly Shelby is the pup for you. She would like an active family that has a yard for her to play in. Good with other dogs, unknown with cats Knows sit, down and come. Shelby comes from the country and has no exposure to big cities. Placements is limited to single family stand-alone homes in a suburban neighborhood, or rural area. Shelby is a young pup who can use some additional training so she will have a Training Addendum. Okay on lead better with an Easy Walk Harness. Crate trained, She is keeping her run at the vet and kennel so may be house trained. Shelby is approved for kids ages 10+.

Update (2/13): Shelby is incredibly friendly and beautiful. There is no question about that. She's soft and covers you with kisses. She's good around other dogs and wants to play, play, play. Now let's turn to what kind of family Shelby needs to flourish:
1- A family with a fenced-in yard where she can run and retrieve. No invisible fences.
2- A family who is in a position to exercise her at least 3 times a day, and by exercise, I mean more than a long walk on leash in the neighborhood. This girl needs to play with other dogs, wrestle, run, and she may enjoy swimming when the weather is nicer. When she's a bit older, she would be a good jogging partner.
3 - She would do great with a family that has another playful dog, not a senior dog, a young, energetic dog who will play together and tire each other out.
4 - A family who will take her to obedience training and do the homework at home, so that she learns to have structure in her life, which she has been lacking.

From shelter rescue coordinator Shelby was surrendered to the shelter due to a sickness in her family and her family was unable to continue caring for her. She is a really really nice dog. Shelby is very friendly and likes treats and attention. Again, this is a really nice dog and we would love to see her get a great forever home.
