Hi! My name is Carlee, and I'm a 6 year old (approximately) pit bull terrier mix. My sister, Marlee, and I were found in pretty bad shape: starved, over-bred, and left tied to a pole in the rain on the streets of Riverside. Animal Control picked us up and took us to a scary place called a shelter. We waited for two weeks hoping to be adopted out, but nobody came for us. More animals than there were space for ended up at the shelter, and one day our time was up. Luckily, a non-profit that matches dogs in high-kill shelters with approved foster homes, Foster Me, networked us and found a temporary foster, and Chews Life Dog Rescue to back us. Our foster mom arrived on our "due out" date 5 minutes before the shelter closed, and life has been great ever since. The only thing that would make it better would be finding my forever home. Here's what my foster mom has to say about me: Carlee is a wonderful dog with an abundance of love to give. She craves human affection, and will crawl into your lap if you let her. The fact that she's 57 pounds doesn't matter, she wants to be snuggled up with her people. Carlee likes other dogs, and wants to play with them, but needs a slow introduction. She can be a bit forward in meeting them, and needs a savvy owner to make the right introductions happen. She is eager to learn, and already knows many basic commands. Carlee is crate trained, but has some anxiety, and would do best in a home where she can be out of her crate and with her people. The right owner is someone who is willing to put in the time and help her work through this issue. We have been going on daily walks, and she does well on leash, but the sound of other dogs barking from behind their fences is scary. She's a wonderful dog who needs someone to help build her confidence and work through these insecurities. Could that someone be you?

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our dogs are placed sporadically in foster homes in all of California (primarily Los Angeles). Potential adopters or fosters need to contact Sydney with Chews Life in order to set up a meeting with the dog the party is interested in.

Our Adoption Process...

All potential adopters are required to fill out an adoption application. Once the application has been approved by Chews Life board members, a house check will be performed by a board member or volunteer. The adoption fee for every dog is $200 unless otherwise stated.
