Can you imagine being locked in a cage most of your life just to line the pockets of horrid people who only have you for making them money. THAT is our Maddie, another one of those sad stories of a breeder dog (along with 20 others) so matted (her "before" picture) that it took our groomer over two hours to finally get all the dead fur off of her. And put that together with no socialization or loving human touch in her 4 years of being in this situation. She had to have 16 teeth extracted which is what we expect for a dog over 10 years, not a 4 year old. You could tell she had chewed on the cage by the way her teeth were worn and had probably never seen a vet's office.
WELL, Maddie is now in the hands of a great foster who is taking it slow with her, has made tremendous progress in getting this girl to trust again, know what it is like to have good food and know it is going to be there day after day. She is learning slowly that a harness and leash are not something to fear, she likes being held and her sad empty eyes are now showing some spirit.
