My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Update 2/19: Mauri's infection cleared up and 2 days ago she had her surgery. Her back leg was successfully removed and she will no longer be in constant pain from her shattered knee (the result of, at some point, suffering a gunshot wound). This resilient girl is already trying to get up and move around, but right now she just wants to cuddle and is happy to crawl onto a lap. She came home today from the vet and will wear a pain patch for the next 2 weeks. We'll continue to keep you posted on this sweet girl's progress. We know everyone here joins us in wishing her a speedy recovery. Thank you. O.S.C.A.R.

Update 2/4: The other night we posted that Mauri was going in for surgery. Sadly, she has to have her leg amputated due to a gunshot wound that shattered her knee. That surgery was supposed to take place today, but they were unable to operate. Her blood work revealed a high white blood count so she is fighting some sort of infection. She's on a round of antibiotics, as well as pain medication, in the hopes that they can knock out the infection and be able to operate in two weeks. We'd like to thank everyone for all the well wishes. We'll keep you updated on her progress. In the meantime, please continue to keep her in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you. O.S.C.A.R.

Update 2/1: We posted Mauri as available for adoption, but she is now on hold. The morning after we rescued her, we noticed she was staying low to the ground and walking with a limp. We weren't told of any medical issues and there was nothing in her paperwork, so we weren't quite sure what to think. We immediately took her to the vet and it turns out, at some point in her life, this little girl was shot. The bullet, still inside her, shattered her knee. The vet says the leg has to be amputated, so this one year old girl is going in for surgery. We'll keep you posted on how she's doing, but make sure to keep her in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you. O.S.C.A.R.

Mauri was picked up as a stray. She had no tags or chip and, sadly, no one ever came looking for her. Mauri is friendly and loves to be petted, but is a bit shy until she gets to know you. This pretty Spitz/Lab mix is about a year old and weighs 30 pounds. Please help Mauri find the loving home she deserves.
