EXPERIENCED ADOPTERS ONLY! This sweet gal was rescued from a high kill shelter in Dallas, TX. We were told that she was a biter and had an upper respiratory infection so she was marked to be euthanized. Fortunately a kind soul saved her and pulled her for rescue. It turns out that the fear caused her to lash out and her upper respiratory infection was a simple kennel cough treated with anti-biotics. We do not know where her journey has fully taken her or what she has endured but, in spite of it all, she is a lover and desires above all else to be loved. That being said, she has bitten one person but never any one in her foster home nor any other dog. This is why she needs an experienced adopter and someone who is very dog savvy. She lets you know when she is frightened and you must read her body signals. Day-to-day she is a wonderful pup that lives a happy life as any pet would. Her foster mom is NOT afraid of her but respects and looks for signs of Nelly being fearful.
Nelly is a just a girlish 11.50 lbs and was born 6/29/2009. She is healthy, micro-chipped, up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed, heart worm negative and taking preventative. She is currently being fostered in Rogers AR and we prefer to place her within driving distance of her foster home. If a wonderful applicant outside the local area is approved for adoption, they must fly in and Penelope must fly home inside the cabin with the approved adopter. Our dogs may never be shipped in cargo and we do not transport them to adoptive homes. Because of her small size and fear we do request she not be placed in a home with children.
Our dogs are never placed in homes with invisible (electric) fencing. Doggy doors are OK as long as they are secured at night and when you are gone. Nelly is small enough to be carried away by a coyote or other predator so should never be outside alone.
If you are interested in adopting, please submit an application at http://www.abgra.org./ If you have questions about Nelly, please contact email@example.com.
