Tara's Story...
Tara is another one of the North Bergen hoarder dogs. She is a ~2-3 year old border collie mix, 50lbs full grown, and likely had at least one litter of pups. She's very timid but warming up and starting to wag her tail even. She and the other dogs from this horrific case had probably never been on leash or outside of that house/backyard, but they are slowly getting acclimated and learning to enjoy individual attention and clean living quarters for the first time in their young lives.
The North Bergen hoarder dogs aren't ready for adoption just yet- they are in the process of getting much needed medical care and will be going into foster care to prepare them for real homes soon. Please email njwoof@cs.com if you are interested in any of these 4 special girls once they are ready. We are still getting to know them but likely will be looking for calmer adult homes with at least one other friendly dog to help them feel more comfortable.

We do not have a shelter- all our pets are in foster homes and can be seen by appointment only during the week, or at our weekly pet adoptions every Sunday at the Animal Clinic of Morris Plains from 12:30 to 3PM at 3009 Route 10 East next to 5 Star Car Wash (formerly Boulder Car Wash) in Morris Plains (Denville on GPS). To help us better match a pet to your household, we request you fill out an application on our homepage www.secondchance.petfinder.com and copy and paste it into an email, or print it and bring it to our adoption day when you come. Local inquiries only please- we do not do long distance adoptions.

Can't adopt but still want to help this dog? Click on the "Sponsor Me" button at the top of this page to donate toward his/her care! All donations are tax-deductible and go directly toward the care of our rescue dogs. Thank you for your support!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Tara, a Oak Ridge Border Collie/Flat-Coated Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Border Collie/Flat-Coated Retriever for sale in Oak Ridge, or seeking a Border Collie/Flat-Coated Retriever dog from a breeder in Oak Ridge.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Oak Ridge already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Oak Ridge breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Border Collie/Flat-Coated Retriever breeders who help with Border Collie/Flat-Coated Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Oak Ridge paves the way for another one to be saved.
