My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Tess was one of the first dogs we saw being removed from the North Bergen hoarder house when we arrived on the scene Wednesday and we knew as soon as she saw her that she had to come with us. This tiny emaciated young recent mom was terrified and had to be caught with a snare pole, muzzled, and carried to the animal control truck. She has calmed down and warmed up surprisingly quickly, and is already greeting us with gentle tail wags and coming over for attention. She and the other dogs from this horrific case had probably never been on leash or outside of that house/backyard, but they are slowly getting acclimated and learning to enjoy individual attention and clean living quarters for the first time in their young lives. We think she is only about a year old and should be about 40lbs once she gains weight.
The North Bergen hoarder dogs aren't ready for adoption just yet- they are in the process of getting much needed medical care and will be going into foster care to prepare them for real homes soon. Please email njwoof@cs.com if you are interested in any of these 4 special girls once they are ready. We are still getting to know them but likely will be looking for calmer adult homes with at least one other friendly dog to help them feel more comfortable.

We do not have a shelter- all our pets are in foster homes and can be seen by appointment only during the week, or at our weekly pet adoptions every Sunday at the Animal Clinic of Morris Plains from 12:30 to 3PM at 3009 Route 10 East next to 5 Star Car Wash (formerly Boulder Car Wash) in Morris Plains (Denville on GPS). To help us better match a pet to your household, we request you fill out an application on our homepage www.secondchance.petfinder.com and copy and paste it into an email, or print it and bring it to our adoption day when you come. Local inquiries only please- we do not do long distance adoptions.
