Drake's Story...
Before coming to Lily's, Drake spent 61/2 years in a back yard and garage with minimal human attention. Due to early onset cataracts, he was blind for much of this time.

Since being in our care, he has recovered from his cataract surgery with flying colors and is now seeing the world with joy and awe! He's thrived in foster care and has become a very happy, cuddly boy with a puppy-like attitude, eager to please and learn. He loves his walks and rides in the car, is great on a leash, and has good house manners. He's learning quickly how to interact with other dogs and, so far, seems to be OK with cats.

He will be a sweet, compliant and devoted companion.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Drake, a Petaluma Flat-Coated Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Flat-Coated Retriever for sale in Petaluma, or seeking a Flat-Coated Retriever dog from a breeder in Petaluma.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Petaluma already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Petaluma breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Flat-Coated Retriever breeders who help with Flat-Coated Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Petaluma paves the way for another one to be saved.
