UPDATE!!! TOBY HAS AN ADOPTER!!
A very sweet lady who has been looking for the right special dog to share her home and family with will be adopting Toby on Friday! The vols are going to take him to the vet here in town that saw him today and he will have his surgery done there. His new family is in the process of moving to a new home and are willing to take on the care of this little boy and bond with him during his recovery.
We are asking if anyone can help offset the costs of this surgery if you would please call in a donation to the vet tomorrow or anytime before Friday. They can take your card number over the phone. Their number is 931-359-3945 and they are in the office 8am-5pm CST. I know this family will appreciate any amount you could help with. This little boy is very special and when picked up today he didn't even offer a whimper. We know he has a bright future ahead of him. Thank you in advance to his wonderful adoptive family and to all who can help contribute to his care. His surgery estimate was at least $300 not including any medications that will be sent home with him. I know they will appreciate it.

We have a bit of bad news about little Toby. He was picked up as a stray possible hit by car after hours, and after being taken to the vet today it was determined he has a broken right rear leg. According to the vet it cannot be mended but must be amputated.
Toby is still on owner stray hold and cannot be released to a rescue group or an adopter until that stray hold time is up. However because of his condition (which he is on strict cage rest and does not appear to be in any pain or suffering any, letting us pick him up with no whimpering or anything) he will be made available to both rescue and adopt on Friday morning at 7am.
This surgery will be a minimum of $300 and will not be done by the city. We are hoping an individual or group will step up and take this little man under their wing. His adoption fee of $71 will cover his neuter which can be done at the same time, saving some money since he will already be under anesthesia. He will not be allowed to remain at the shelter an extended amount of time so he needs out ASAP after Friday morning at 7am.
He is young and will recover fine from having his leg amputated. He appears to be less than a year old close to a year we think. He is very sweet and looks to have some chihuahua in him as well as some other kind of terrier.
For obvious reasons if you wish to come visit him you will have to do so in the puppy bank room as we do not want to be getting him in and out of his kennel.
Please let us know if you can adopt or pull this lovely little man. He is so very loving and trusting and will simply melt your heart. 359-5948 if you can take him in via rescue or adoption.
Toby is a young male black and tan possibly chihuahua terrier mix found as a stray late evening on 1-17-16. He is holding up his right rear leg and will be checked out at a veterinarians office. He appears to be less than a year old maybe around 10 months or so. He is on owner stray hold until his adoption date. His adoption fee is $71 which covers his neuter and vaccination boosters.
