Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hello there! You”ve seen my picture, so you know I a’m adorable. My name is Sir Herbie, but go ahead and call me Herbie or Herb. I am 7 yr old and a real “Love Bug”.
I can”t even begin to tell you what”s happened to me before coming to SCLRR, but I am so glad they found me in the shelter. I had been there 3 weeks. No one came to get me. I’m such a good boy, there was absolutely no reason for that! I was so scared, cold, shaking, I had diarrhea and I was so sick with bronchitis. I couldn”t have held on for much longer.
I was so dirty, that everyone thought I was a black lab, BUT, I am actually a brindle lab. Google it, I”m pretty rare!
My first stop was to the vet. They gave me a great warm bath and when my foster mom got me, I smelled like strawberries! We did a lot of hugging and we”ve been hugging ever since. She nursed me back to health and SCLRR got me neutered. I bounced right back from that and I acted like it didn”t even hurt.
My foster mom describes me as healthy, perky, handsome, really adorable, lovable and a very good boy. I know how to “sit” and after I eat I sometimes pick up my bowl and prance around with it to show you how much I enjoyed my food. I know how to “shake my right paw” and I sort of understand the “stay” command. I walk OK on a leash. I wear a pinch collar, but don”t pull nearly as hard as some labs. I”m compact, only 68 pounds. I can heel for my foster mom. I get excited when I see other dogs, but she just corrects me and on we go. I take treats very gently. I get along well with other dogs, I made some good doggie friends at the park as you can see from my photos. I rarely bark. For instance, when there was a painter in our yard, I barked. My foster mom said that was OK because I don”t have a mean bark, it just lets her know someone different is in the yard.
I slept in a large crate with water and toys for the first week I was here. Now, I am allowed to sleep wherever I want. I”m quiet all night and I wait patiently for my foster mom to get up in the morning to take care of me. I haven”t chewed anything except my toys and bones and I am house trained. I am not allowed on the furniture here, but I think it would be fun to curl up next to my person on the couch to watch TV. I jump up into the car easily. My foster mom insists that I walk down the ramp so as not to impact my joints when I get out of the car. She wants only the best for me and I appreciate it so much.
I love riding in the car and “I love, love, love going for runs and walks”. I really need that. I would love a forever home with someone who would exercise with me and someone who would work with me on my commands, such as “come” if I get loose. I”ve just been so mixed up with all that has happened to me, I can get confused as to where I belong. I know that once I am in my forever home, I will be so happy, everyone there will love me so much and I will stay with them forever. Thanks for reading this. I”m waiting for you, Herbie.
