My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

TYBEE is a 1 1/2 year old neutered male yellow Lab who weighs 49 pounds. He is a great pup, who has been through a lot but still thinks people are okay. He is a little nervous when he first meets you but if you go slow he is fine. Loves his tennis balls and brings them back and gives them up to you most of the time, when he doesn't he wants you to play chase with him. He is smart and treat motivated. Tybee has always lived with another dog and must be adopted into a home that has another dog.. his rescuer had a Scottish Terrier, and border collie mix who he did well with. The Terrier was the boss of them - he also lived with cats He would love a home with a fenced yard so he can run and play to get the exercise he needs. He, lived with special need boy age 8 and has stayed with friends who have kids ages 6 & 7 when rescuers were out of town. Knows sit, down and come. Tybee is a young pup who can use some additional training so he will have a Training Addendum. Hasn't been on lead much good with an Easy Walk Harness. He is house and crate trained Tybee is approved for kids ages 8+.

Update (2/5): Tybee is a super happy, and playful pup. He is fantastic with my cats and is learning about my dog's play style. Tybee loves food and is treat motivated. He knows sit pretty well, but he could use some work on down. Tybee loves the ball! He will chase it forever, and he always brings it back, especially if you have another ball ready. He loves to be petted and wants to be on top of you at all times. Tybee could learn some personal space, but he's a cuddle bug. He does great on an easy walk and good on a simple leash and collar. He does well in the crate and is completely house trained. Tybee is a little nervous about stairs and the screen door, but he is figuring it out.

Tybee's story He was rescued from a family whose special needs child had shown abusive behavior towards pets so parents had to re-homed all their pets. They couldn't find a home for Tybee so were going to bring him to a high kill shelter. Rescuer had served with boy's father and heard about them giving him up so went to West Virginia to get him. He is named after Tybee Island in NC where they had been stationed.

Tybee has always lived with another dog and must be adopted with one. He comes from the suburbs and has no exposure to big cities. Placements is limited to single family stand-alone homes in a suburban neighborhood, or rural area. I
