My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

It's hard to imagine this truly beautiful (inside and out) Standard Schnoodle (Schnauzer/Poodle mix) wandering the streets of Texas..so cold and skinny. A compassionate passer-by took Stuart in and slowly nursed him back to health...she came to also love him and care about his welfare. We're positive that she had no idea that she was bringing him to a high-kill shelter when she dropped him off thinking he'd get a great new home. Farfel's Rescue was contacted about this wonderful Schnoodle who was nearing euthanasia...our TX rescuer met Stuart and came to fall in love with this awesome guy who just naturally puts happy feelings into the world. Farfel's responded and will be transporting Stuart to Colorado and a new life.

Farfel's Rescue agrees that Stuart deserves only the best after the challenges in his young life and has agreed to participate in his rehoming. Wonderful Stuart is one of the sweetest Schnoodle around...and the very popular Schnauzer/Poodle mix is acknowledged to be one of the top mixes as a family pet. They have cotton-soft, non-shedding coats with gorgeous gold, silver and white coloring. They're also widely known for their great temperaments and devoted natures.

The following is a description of Stuart by his Boulder foster mom: Stuart is an awesome, affectionate, energetic young dog. He looks small in photos but is actually a sturdy, strong 50lb dog that needs a lot of exercise to help channel his energy.
Stuart has a lot of great qualities: He is friendly towards people and other dogs, does not shed, does well in his crate, and is house-trained. He's done well at doggy daycare playing with other energetic dogs, and loves to play tug and cuddle with people.
Because Stuart is so strong, energetic, and playful, he needs lots of exercise and guidance. He has a strong prey drive and is boisterous when playing, so definitely should not live with cats and would not be a good fit with small children or fragile/shy dogs. Stuart needs more training to help with a few problem areas like wanting to herd cars and leash pulling. He responds very well to calm, firm redirection and positive reinforcement. Stuart will be a wonderful, loyal companion for someone who wants to share an active lifestyle, and give him plenty of affection and attention.

This boy is amazingly beautiful, with a silky brindle and white coat and the most expressive eyes. He is intelligent, confident, curious and very sweet. Stuart has been neutered and is already crate trained. He sleeps quietly in his crate at night and is very happy to see his family in the morning! Stuart is still a puppy — perhaps a year old -- and he loves to play. His energy level is high so he would do best with an active family that likes to hike or run on the trails. He LOVES his food and seems to be thriving. He also loves to play with his strong fuzzy toys!

Stuart is deserving of a loving family or person with a gentle soul and firm hand. Stuart is such a sweetie! He loves attention and is so comical - and then plays and runs hard outside in the sunshine. He loves to snuggle, be petted and is great about grooming. His fine and cotton-like hair will require care...a periodic grooming would be perfect to keep his coat as beautiful as it can be. He doesn't shed at all.
I wouldn't be telling the whole story if I didn't add that Stuart is great in the car (so wonderful that he can go anywhere and be a great companion). And he's equally great at the groomer's. Stuart was patient and sweet as he was groomed and (of course) was loved by all. Whichever family is lucky enough to be a match for this great dog is getting a true best friend.

Farfel's has made the decision that we have to use care when matching Stuart to a home with a doggy sibling. He loves other dogs that share his fun-loving and energetic ways. He could play for hours in a positive way with complete abandon... and be happy and stimulated. Stuart wouldn't be a match for a submissive or small canine friend. He would overwhelm without meaning to.

Stuart weighs 53 lbs (he's full-grown) and is 9 - 12 months old...a great age for a Schnoodle - old enough to have a bit of wisdom and to be easily taught house skills... and young enough to have tons of energy to participate with all his heart in all activities of life. Schnoodles, as a mix, tend to live very long and healthy lives.

To be a great lifelong companion that is happily accepted in all dog-friendly locations, we feel strongly that Stuart should attend positive reinforcement group obedience classes. This is great for both Stuart and all family members that participate. It results in a very bonded relationship and a very well-behaved best friend.

Stuart is a truly smart boy and if shown the way, always wants to please. He's very responsive to 'no' and is learning all kinds of new skills. What a gem of a dog Stuart would be for a family with kids 12+ or young and active retirees who would like to be involved in training and watching Stuart blossom! He's perfect for anyone who seeks a full-time pal who can accompany them everywhere and be a pleasure.

Stuart is in foster care in the Denver area. If interested in setting up a Meet and Greet with this sweet, fun-loving and very devoted companion, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com.
