My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Walter is a sweet gentleman of a dog, named by our assistant after Walther Matthau. He was a sheriff department impound, found at the entrance gate to a mine. He had several chronic injuries - looks like someone shot him at some point in the past, leaving him with a front leg that doesn't hold his weight. He is also blind, so it's a mystery how he found his way to the mine, unless someone just dumped him there.

Despite his medical issues, he is friendly and easy to handle, tolerates new people well, and rode quietly in the car with the deputy. Walter doesn't seem very interested in other dogs, but is always ready for cuddling with anybody who needs a hug. Walter will need a home with a fenced yard, and preferably with no stairs to navigate.

Walter has been neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Blood work prior to surgery was all normal. We did not amputate his bad leg, as while he doesn't use it, it doesn't seem to bother or impede him.

2-5-16: Walter was adopted by a lovely family, who also adopted a dog from us almost exactly 5 years ago. Here's to Bailey and Wally and hoping the get along well for many and long!
