My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

What a sweet and kind Yorkshire Terrier/Poodle our Parker is! Is that a Yorpoo or a Pooyo..we're not sure but it's a designer breed mix that is opportunistically being bred for their adorable looks, non-shedding cotton-soft coats and great temperaments. As a result of this human greed, these pups are being bred, sold for very high prices or dumped if they have any challenges. Farfel's is very happy to rescue these dogs and find them nurturing and committed homes.

At 2.5 - 3 years old and only 8.8 lbs, Parker is an incredibly beautiful and snuggly little girl . We all know that Parker has arrived when we see the wag that starts at her tail and becomes a full-blown body wiggle...Parker is greeting either a friend or anyone who has the potential to be a future playmate.

Parker is initially cautious...assessing the situation to make sure all is OK. This makes perfect sense as she's been through time spent at a high-kill shelter waiting for his pending euthanasia date. When she was identified with a great temperament, Farfel's spoke up to bring Parker to safety (and a new forever family) in Colorado.

Once Parker senses that all present are her friends, she is so warm and friendly that she always hopes every pat and kind word will turn into a friend. Both people and other dogs are drawn to Parker for her kind attitude and playful ways. Parker enjoys the company of other dogs and would be very happy in a family that included other gentle, small-sized pups.

Farfel's Rescue has determined that Parker needs a mellow home where she is an active and important member of the family. Since Parker enjoys kids, we feel she would be a gift to an adult home (retirees would be perfect) who have gentle grandchildren. Parker would be a great children's companion and couch-mate but would be happy to get her adult family all to herself at the end of the day. Adults also offer Parker a more predictable environment which she would enjoy. At day's end, this beautiful YorkieX is the ultimate snuggler and sleeps soundly through the night.

It is Parker's love affair with life and all the hardships that she's suffered along the way that motivates us to put her through Heartworm treatments..her precious life deserves to be saved! Parker has tested low HW+ and Farfel's (with the help of Dr G in Denver) has volunteered to save this very special dog's life. The heart worm treatment process involves several shots followed by a short period of quiet time for Parker. We have found this protocol to be very successful and the dogs go on to live long, happy lives.

We are seeking an adopter to lovingly care for Parker as she becomes Heartworm negative. It's quite an easy rehab process as it only entails mellow time with soft words and belly rubs. Farfel's will pay the vet bills and provide premium food and treats for this special girl as she becomes healthily heartworm-free.

Parker (like all dogs) would benefit from positive reinforcement obedience classes that includes the whole family - she is a super-smart pup who truly wants to please. Great training will give Parker the skills to be an excellent adult dog. These type of classes will also bring out the great qualities of this Yorkie mix as well as creating a tightly-knit bonding with all family members
.
Parker is a non-shedding pup with a beautiful coat with such distinctive markings. This photo in no way shows off this truly gorgeous YorkieX. We've requested that Parker get a bath and serious grooming prior to her transport to Boulder...this will begin the process of Parker losing her sad shelter coat and growing in a cottony-soft coat of silver and pure white. If this Texas grooming doesn't occur, Farfel's is happy to cover costs of grooming at our rescue groomer in Boulder or Denver. Parker's new family needs to plan on the cost of periodic grooming and great nutrition for this special girl.

Parker will arrive on transport in Denver on 1/29/16. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If interested in this sweet and devoted best friend, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.
