Mackey's Story...

Hi, I'm Mackey, and I'm one of the dogs abandoned on the horse ranch. I'm quite the senior at about 15 yrs. old and weigh around 40 lbs.

Unfortunately, I was very sick by the time my foster mom was able to take me, but I'm doing much better now. I have terminal cancer and am heartworm positive, so I will never be completely healthy. I've done so well over the last few months, though, that my foster mom though it would be unfair not to post me. I know she will love and keep me forever, but she says there just might be someone out there that needs me, so here I am.

I require medication twice a day, but, other than that and moving a little slow due to my age, I get around quite well for an old girl :)

First, please check out our General Adoption Policies at www.HoundHaven.PetFinder.Com.

Then, if you are interested in adopting one of our babies, please contact us at HoundRescue@TGTi.Net for more information or to request an Adoption Application.

Once we have reviewed your application, we will contact you to set up a home visit if we feel placement is a possibility. At the home visit, we will bring the requested pet to your house or other pre-arranged meeting place to determine if you might be a good 'fit' for each other. If we all agree an adoption is in everyone's best interest, we will make further arrangements at that time.

Please note that, although we do our best with age estimation and breed identification, we are almost always hampered by lack of definitive information. We attempt to note which pets are 'mixes' vs. those that may be purebred and to accurately indicate age, but, due to the nature of rescue, we cannot guarantee any pet's information to be other than our best guess at the time. We sometimes update / change our postings due to better information / additional expertise and apologize if this confuses anyone. If you believe we have misposted a pet or have an alternative suggestion for a pet's breed identification, please let us know and we'll gladly consider updating our data.

Also please note that, because we are an informal group of private fosters and not an incorporated rescue organization, we do not have a physical shelter for you to visit nor do we give out our home addresses or other personal information.

MANY THANKS for your interest, and we wish you the best in your search for your new family member!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Mackey, a San Antonio Cattle Dog/American Staffordshire Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Cattle Dog/American Staffordshire Terrier for sale in San Antonio, or seeking a Cattle Dog/American Staffordshire Terrier dog from a breeder in San Antonio.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in San Antonio already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a San Antonio breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Cattle Dog/American Staffordshire Terrier breeders who help with Cattle Dog/American Staffordshire Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in San Antonio paves the way for another one to be saved.
