My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I'm Xena!

My birthday is May 07 and I'm WAY too thin at my current weight of 70 lbs.

I was recently rescued from the side of the road in the middle of nowhere, and my foster mom was shocked at how thin and hairless I was.  She rushed me to the vet, and the vets determined I had a horrible ringworm infection and parasite infestation.  We've gotten the parasites under control, and the ringworm is much better, but I'm still very thin and predominantly bald.  My hair will eventually grow back, though, and I'm starting to eat much better, so I should be good as new in another couple of months :)

Oh, and for those of you that aren't familiar with Anatolians, we mature VERY slowly, so, although I'm more than a year old, I'm still very much a puppy by  Anatolian standards.

I was microchipped, and my microchip was still registered to my breeder, so we were able to contact her and find out she had sold me several months earlier as a trained stock guardian to someone who didn't bother to register the chip in his name.  The breeder really didn't want to be responsible for the cost of healing me and also didn't know how to contact the person who bought me anymore (thank goodness!), so she agreed I could stay in rescue, retire from being a working dog, and find a nice forever home where I can be a beloved family pet -- are you the right family for me?
