Magic's Story...
Birthday:  30 Jan 07

Adult Weight:  80 lbs.

Hi, I'm Magic, and I am a purbred Saint Bernard.  My breeder turned me over to rescue as I was very small compared to my littermates, so she couldn't sell me, and she was concerned I might not be healthy (sometimes large breed 'runts' have genetic defects that don't show up for many months -- often until the puppy tries to grow to full size -- and these defects are can eventually be fatal).  I've been in rescue almost my entire life now, and the vet has given me a clean bill of health and says that I'm perfectly normal but just smaller than expected.  Since we now know there's nothing wrong with me, it's time for me to find my forever home (it's going to be very hard for my foster mom -- she'd love to keep me -- but there are others that need to come in that can't if I stay).  I am a very sweet and laid back girl, but I should be crated or gated if you're gone as I (like most large dogs) tend to get curious and counter surf to see if there's anything interesting I'm missing from ground level.  I have the shorter, flatter St. B coat, not the longer curlier one, and I'm not very drooly and I don't have the classic St. B. lips / jowls.  Please note my adoption fee is set in accordance with the St. B. breed club rescue guidelines and is $300.  Could I be the right girl for you?

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Magic, a San Antonio St. Bernard dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a St. Bernard for sale in San Antonio, or seeking a St. Bernard dog from a breeder in San Antonio.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in San Antonio already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a San Antonio breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even St. Bernard breeders who help with St. Bernard rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in San Antonio paves the way for another one to be saved.
