My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Gatsby is a 5 yr old male Great Pyrenees that came to GPRO from an Okla. shelter as an owner surrender. This sweet guy has obviously endured neglect as he has a limp that xrays showed is due to an old injury that wasn't treated causing the bone to heal crocked; but he still loves people and wants to be your loyal companion. He is a well mannered lovebug, social with kids, dogs and cats. He loves just lounging and hanging out with his people living a leisurely life. Gatsby would probably prefer to be an only dog just so he gets all the love and attn. lol, but he'd be fine with a dog friend but it would need to be a female. Gatsby is house trained, crate trained, and trustworthy with the run of the house when left alone.

The shelter told us that Gatsby's owner stated he was heart worm positive & they'd started treatment but didn't finish it. We immediately started him on the pre-treatment and took him into our vet this week for his first hw treatment and Gatsby tested negative! Our vet ran three diff tests for heartworms & all three came back negative! Either Gatsby had a very light infestation cured by the partial treatment or the orig test was an error. However, his chest films our vet ran showed Gatsby has a slightly enlarged heart unrelated to him possibly having had heartworms. His bloodwork was perfect so he's otherwise a healthy boy so the vet expects he will need a low maintenance dose of the medication Lasix to manage his condition which we've already started him on.

This sweet boy has had a rough life and obviously neglected and uncared for; please consider offering him the home he deserves that will take care of him and love him.
