Salem's Story...
Salem and his two sisters were tiny kittens found in a car motor last March. They were rescued and kept in a crate for a month, then delivered to me. They have lived with me since. Very very shy to begin with. Salem and Sabrina have warmed up a lot and love to snuggle when I am in bed or sitting down, but are still a little worried when I pet them from a standing position (unless, of course, I am feeding them. Then I am their best friend.)

They are very soft and beautiful with feathery coats but no thick undercoat.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Salem, a Houston American Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a American Shorthair for sale in Houston, or seeking a American Shorthair cat from a breeder in Houston.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Houston already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Houston breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even American Shorthair breeders who help with American Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Houston paves the way for another one to be saved.
