From her foster mom:
Possum: 2-3yr Jack Russel/choc lab mix, spay, microchipped, dhlp2p, rabies, housetrained. K9 Advantix II
Loves to sleep next to her human.
Abandoned near Georgia Pacific. Showed up at a dog trap for another dog. The trap caught a possum instead. This little brown dog was trying to get in with the possum to eat the chicken bait.
This little dog loves her dog buddies, loves to play. She can play hard and rough. At times Possum has to be reminded to be easy.
She also needs time to adjust to new dogs. She will growl and bristle for she is untrusting of new situations be it with dogs or people.
She will still growl and protect her bones. She growls and they understand that the bone she has is not for sale.
Cars, she's never been fond of them. She freezes and won't move. The last car ride though she actually moved her head around and sat up some.
Leashes, she will walk but mostly between your legs. She's been learning by going places with her buddy.
She is not coddled. She has to do it. She is now walking through automatic doors.
Possum has never been in a crate. Instead she's put in a small area that fits a large dog bed next to a crate where a GSD is kept in. She still cowers and is terrified. She is let out to have the house while we are gone and she's been fine. Once in awhile she will get in the trash if the lid isn't closed.
She seems to like children but because of her nature with bones I would say young children is not a good fit
CHILDREN OVER 12 ONLY.
