My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi – My name is Midge. I came from a shelter in Ohio, so not much is known about me. I am about two years old, so I have a bit of puppy energy in me.

I go to doggie day camp a couple of times during the week because I really do not like to be in the kennel all day long, five days a week. I am friendly and play nice with everyone. When I come home, I am tired, so we play for a little while, and then I find my doggie bed and lie down for a nap. I ride well in the car, but do make whimper noises.

We go for a walk / potty break at 6am and again after work. When I don’t go to camp, foster mom comes home for lunch and we go out then, too. I had a spotless record of no potty accidents in the house until my first day of camp. I got off of my regular potty schedule and had one accident. I am back on track with no more accidents.

I love going for walks and I walk like a beagle, too. I zig zag back and forth scanning the universe or with my nose to the ground, and occasionally, I stick my head in the snow. On the weekends, we go for super long walks. I walk and potty well on a leash. Sometimes I pull, or need a gentle nudge to keep up the pace. I do bark (a lot) a friendly bark. I bark at people and other dogs that we meet along the way - I just want to meet new friends. The first person to greet me was the repair man at the neighbor’s house. I barked at him, but he let me come up close so I gave him a hug. It put a smile on his face!

I also love to play. I like to play chase and I like all kinds of toys. I am quite the chewer, so rope toys are the best. Foster mom and I play fetch with my rope ball. Sometimes, instead of bringing the ball back, I throw it and go chase it again. I run quite fast and can be jumpy when I play, so I might not be too good in a home with small children, but older children would be fine. Also, I wasn’t much of a cuddler, but after some time in my foster home, I can now snuggle on foster mom’s lap for a nice nap.

After a hard day of playing, I calm down well at night. My first night in my foster home, foster mom said ‘time for bed’. I ran up the stairs, jumped on the people bed, and landed right on the people pillows. Foster mom said ‘How about if you sleep on the doggie bed on the floor?’ and I was like ‘No way!’ So we compromised. I sleep in my doggie bed snuggled under my blankets, but it rests on the people bed. I sleep very well all night, until foster mom wakes me and it is time to start our day. I am a super good, fun, smart, cute little girl looking for her furever home. Love, Midge.
