Howard is a sassy boy who wants to make sure his human friends know who's boss. He says he is, but if his people want to pet him all over, that's totally okay. This sweet boy is a little shy on first meeting a new human friend, but once he forms an attachment, it's strong and forever lasting. He never forgets his people. Howard can be choosy about his dog buddies. Now in foster care, he's living with four dogs and prefers the two quieter, low-energy pals. He sometimes barks at the other, more active ones. He gets along well with the family cats.
He can also be picky about when he wants petting and by whom, so he may do best on an adult-only home. He walks well on his leash, is crate-trained and seems house trained. He loves car rides, jumping in and settling down quickly. At home, he's easygoing, happy to go for a walk or take a snooze. He answers to the "sit" command.
It should be noted that Howard has tested positive for heartworms. It's a treatable condition, and the cost is included in the adoption fee. You can read about heartworm treatment here: http://www.austinpetsalive.org/heartworms/
Howard should fit very well into a calm home with a single person or couple and other dogs that match is sedate energy level. Come meet him!
