My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Snow Cream is a spayed female Husky mix that was born mid July 2015. She was found running loose in a very remote area with her brother and their mother and their original owners were never found. Her mother and brother have both found new homes and now it is time for her. She is currently around 50 pounds and will probably max out around 60 pounds as an adult.

Snow enjoys wrestling and playing with other dogs but is sometimes a bit too much for them, so her friends often get sick of her because they can only get their toy yanked out of their mouth or get tackled so many times and be ok with it. She can be reactive towards other dogs when on leash but is controllable with guidance and when you have cookies you have all her attention. When she was younger she would guard her food and bones from other dogs, but she has only growled or barked and nothing more and has not done it in a while. She gets overly excited around small kitties that are active and playful or cats that are intimidated by dogs. She lived in a home with cats that are confident and won't run away from dogs and she was respectful with them, even off leash. However, we feel it would be better for her, the new owner and the kitties if she just lives in a home without cats.

She is still learning and will sometimes get overexcited and play too roughly with children when she is not supervised by adults so we would prefer her to be adopted into a home with older kids that can train her that she can't jump on them or mouth them. She has lived in two foster homes with kids from 3-6 years old and although she loves them, she still requires guidance around them or she will jump on them when she first sees them. This dog can fetch for hours! She absolutely loves to hang out outside and rarely barks unless she is rough housing with her doggy friends. She lived in a house that backed up to a busy street and her foster family said she almost never barks. In the foster home she lives in now there is alot of activity behind the house as there is a business on the property, and she is still very quiet. Even though she is quiet, she is not an apartment dog and needs a home with a yard to play in. This is a very active intelligent dog and requires an owner with dog experience and someone that is willing to give her vigorous exercise every single day. Even though she doesn't bark, she does whine when excited or when she wants out of her crate. The whining is quite minimal.

Snow is doing well on leash when she wears a head collar. She is an active puller on a regular collar so we are looking for a family for her that is willing to work with her and keep up her training on a head collar. She loves training so it is alot of fun! She is house broken and uses a doggy door. She is also crate trained and sleeps quietly in her crate every night and when ever the foster family is not at home. She goes easily in for a cookie every time. She prefers plastic crates and will whine more persistantly in a wire crate. She is not a candidate for a soft sided crate at this time and she is not ready to be loose in the house without guidance. She still tries to jump on the couch and counter surf when you exit the room, sometimes if she is feisty it is even when the foster owners are actually in the room!! Some dogs are late bloomers and Snow is one of them and will need some guidance and maturity (along with exercise) before she can be safe alone in the house.

Snow is just great. She loves to lay in the grass and soak up the world. She is very social with people but is independent enough that she can also spend time by herself. She is quiet for a husky and rarely barks, but does growl when playing. Thats how you know she is having a good time!!!

Do you have an active home looking for a beautiful companion to spend time with? Snow Cream's adoption fee is $150 plus a $10.99 microchip registration fee. She is vaccinated, started on heartworm treatment, flea free, and spayed.
