Here's what the humans have to say about me:
To MEET May - fill out an application. Cut and paste this link into your web browser: www.welcomehomedogrescue.org/adoption/application-to-adopt-a-companion/
Apply to FOSTER: www.welcomehomedogrescue.org/how-you-can-help/foster/
Foster parents have the first option to adopt. We will provide all you need to foster.
Weight: 35 lbs.
Age: 2 years
Personality: May is quite energetic, but affectionate and a sweet dog. She has a typical sporting dog personality similar to a Labrador. She shows anxiety at times due to being abandoned by her owner in Korea. She waited on the street corner for three days waiting for her owner to come back and get her! Luckily she was found by a good samaritan and saved! She just needs exercise, playtime, training (obedience, agility, nose work, flyball would all be good) and most of all TIME to adjust. She loves to play with other dogs and can play all day long!
Coat: short and very soft, silky, will require occasional baths and ear cleaning, but no other grooming should be needed
Training: Knows sit and down
Potty trained: Yes
Health: May is very healthy and was given a veterinary exam by our vet. Heart, eyes, ears, hips, knees, teeth all excellent. Tests negative for fecal parasite. She no longer has adult heart worms, but will need to stay on a monthly heart worm preventative for the rest of her life.
History: May was rescued in S. Korea by a university professor in May 2015. The professor rehabilitated May back to health. She was treated successfully for heartworm 6 months ago, and was later spayed. Large dogs have a very hard time getting adopted in Korea, so we brought this beautiful girl to the USA to find her forever family.
Fostered in: Fullerton, CA (local applications only please)
Type of home: May will need daily exercise (not just in the backyard), positive method training classes and plenty of attention from her new family. She is very friendly with both people and dogs. This type of dog is a hunting breed, bred to run! She is very "birdy" and excited by prey animals.
Crate trained: Yes, but doesn't like it
Good with Dogs: Yes
Good with Kids: Yes
Good with Cats: Unknown, but would be trainable to be good with cats
Adoption fee (non-refundable): $500
All dogs are fully vetted, tested for heartworm, microchipped, and up to date with vaccinations.
Our adoption process looks like this:
1. Adoption application review by WHDR board
2. Adoption application approval
3. Meet and greet
4. Home safety check
5. Final approval and adoption finalized
Our volunteers, donors and adopters mean the world to us! Without you, we couldn't do what we do - saving the lives of abused, neglected and abandoned dogs and providing them with a loving forever home.
