My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Gretel is a 15 month-old, purebred, AKC-registered, female German Shepherd Dog.  She has a "showline" pedigree, and a mother from a well-known breeder.   She is already spayed, up-to-date on her vaccinations, and she recently tested negative for heartworms.  She is fairly large for a female, weighing in at 75-80 pounds.

Gretel is great with other dogs in her foster home.  She's always lived with other dogs, so we think she would enjoy having a playful canine buddy in her forever home.

She is young and exuberant.  As is typical of a young GSD, she is still "mouthy," and she's likely to get "nippy" when excited.  She requires a patient adopter who understands how to redirect this behavior and work with her on it.   She also tends to jumps on people when  excited, so she's likely to knock over little ones in her excitement.  For these reasons, she's probably not the right fit for young kids.

Gretel is enjoying her training sessions in her foster home, and she's a very smart girl.   Gretel is looking for a forever home that will continue her training and commit to enrolling her in a good obedience course to help bring out all the best in this special girl.   Like any adolescent GSD, she will require regular exercise to help give her an outlet for her natural energy.

A completed adoption application, with vet and personal references, and a home check are required to apply to adopt. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an adoption applicationhttp://www.RedStickGermanShepherds.org.  Applications are approved solely in the discretion of the RSGSR board of directors.
