Riley is a 16 pound, 8 year old male Shih Tzu mix. He came into rescue when his owner went into assisted living and could not take him with her. He is house trained and knows commands such as sit and stay. He needs someone who is firm and will follow through with his training to help him learn that he is not the "boss". Riley will try to be the boss if allowed to do so, but he responds well to gentle but firm corrections and is happiest if he knows his person is in charge. He is very loving and is also very playful. His most prized possessions are his squeaky toys, and he must play with them every day! He enjoys going on walks, and car rides. He loves to sit next to you or on your lap. He prefers to sleep with you or at least in the same room with you. He really is a people loving dog and is content just being with his family. He was raised in a home with no children, but because of his playful nature, he would probably do well in a home with older respectful children and where someone is able to be home with him much of the time.
Riley is healthy, neutered, current on vaccinations, microchipped and on heartworm preventative. His adoption fee is $220.00 plus $16.01 sales tax for a total of $236.01. His foster parents would like for his adopters to live within a reasonable driving distance of the Twin Cities and encourage them to attend the annual Shih Tzu Rescue Reunion in September.
