My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We have a goldbar female chinchilla that is looking for his new home. She came to NWI a bit ago, and we estimate she was born 9/14/2015. This makes her right around 4 months old, and now is a great time for her to go to her new home and bond with her new family.

This female’s color is called goldbar. It is a whiteish champagne color, which is usually darker on the back of the chinchilla. This color is the same as what you might see called Lowe’s recessive white. This is an unusual color to come across in a chinchilla – a chance to own a color not everyone can say they have!

This goldbar female is a dramatic diva! Want an interesting chin that will keep you on your toes and keep you sharp, this is it! If you open the cage door, you better not walk away – she will help herself to freedom! She is super curious and definitely an active girl. Once she’s old enough (6+ months) she would love playtime! She is also a bit of a drama queen – because we’ve had to catch her a few times when she’s got out, we’ve learned that she will absolutely will wail if you pick her up by her tail. So we do our best to scoop her up underneath her belly. She will also just randomly squeal and talk to you when she’s in her cage. Definitely a vocal chin!

Despite all of this, she does surprisingly well with being handled and petted. She actually is a very sweet girl when you have her in your arms and she sits to be petted pretty well. Just active if you get her down on the floor. Cute as a button though, so we forgive her every time… Doesn’t bite.

This chinchilla is currently living alone, and we do not know if she gets along with other chinchillas. If you are curious as to whether she might get along with your, or one of our, chinchillas, let us know and we’ll see what we can do.

This chinchilla would make a good “first chinchilla” for someone who’s never had chinchillas before.

This chinchilla will come with some food to start you out (2 pounds of Tradition pellets), a goodie bags of chews/treats, and a printed out version of our care packet. She will also come with a lifetime of help and support, should you ever need it. If more supplies are needed, we also sell a variety of chinchilla supplies, from cages to hidey houses to hammocks and everything in between.

Regardless of past chinchilla experience, all potential homes will be asked to read our chinchilla care packet, fill out our adoption application/chinchilla questionnaire, and provide proof of cage. If you are unwilling to do these things, please do not waste our time or yours. No chinchilla will go to a new home without an adoption application being filled out - no exceptions.

This chinchilla is located in Hammond, Indiana (zip code 46324). Sorry, but we do not ship.

Normally, this goldbar female would be $250 to adopt, but due to our Fabulous February sale, her adoption fee is now reduced to $200! Must be picked up or have a deposit down by Feb 29th. No other discounts apply.
