My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET CHIPPER TWO

CHIPPER TWO is a 9 lb, 22 month old, smooth, male, black and tan Dachshund who LOVES to play with toys (any size will do). Just check out the size of that stuffed bone in one of his photos. His foster parents also tell us he LOVES LOVES LOVES to be with his people and snuggle under the covers. He does well walking on a leash, although he does bark at other dogs and people that pass by.

You see, little Chipper Two came from a neglectful past and has received no training and was not given the love a little doxie needs to feel confident. He is learning his basic commands, does listen and learns quickly. This little guy is high energy and as a result, Chipper Two will do best as the only child in a doxie savvy family with a stay at home parent (work from home or retired) so he can receive the full benefit of your attention and training and he can give you all of his love and devotion.

Like all Dachshunds, CHIPPER TWO is high energy and enjoys playing and warming his little bones in the sunshine, so along with regular walks around his neighborhood, Chipper Two needs a secure fenced yard to run around and explore safely. While small in stature, doxies are big on personality and don't generally do well in apartments, with all of the noises and traffic that come with multiple dwellings in a confined space. To best set up our doxies and their new families for success, ODR, Inc., adopt to families who live in single family homes with secure fenced yards.

OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):

Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc). Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.

WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:

All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $495, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.

Can you give Chipper Two a happy, carefree life again? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net. The adoption committee will attempt to be in contact with you within 48-72 hours. Please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
