My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

A vagabond dreamer, a rhymer and singer of songs. Singing to no one and nowhere to really belong. I met a beautiful lady, a pure Southern belle of the ball. I did a new dance and you did your Tennessee Waltz. The party's all over I came uninvited I'm leaving and taking the belle of the ball. -from 'Belle Of The Ball' by Waylon Jennings
This sweet girl is more than the belle of the ball, she's the 'Bayou Belle' of the ball! Bayou Belle is a 2 year old Beagle with the typical Beagle colors of tan, white and black and the usual soft brown eyes, however she is far from 'typical' She currently weighs 20 lbs and once she has gained a little more needed weight she should be about 25 lbs. Bayou Belle's story is really of survival, overcoming some dire odds, and thriving. We are pretty sure she had NEVER seen the inside of any kind of structure until she ended up in an overcrowded high kill southern shelter as a stray. She was starving for both food and human contact upon arrival. Bayou Belle had probably not seen any good days in a very long time...she weighed a mere 15 lbs and was skin and bones. We found out that this adorable girl came from some hunters who raised Beagles, Bayou Belle refused to hunt so she was of no use to them and they would not come get her. She overcame some pretty dire odds when she was pulled into rescue and placed in a patient loving foster home with a mom ready to teach her the ropes on how pups should be cared for. With a little time and love she has gained some much needed weight and needs just a little more to fill in. Bayou Belle has had to learn everything from the beginning. She has done quite well and continues to improve with her potty training, she will still need some guidance until she has learned what her new home's routine is. At present her foster mom takes her out in the morning, comes home for lunch for a potty break, then a few times during the evening. She is currently being crated while mom is at work but has free run of the home at all other times. Foster mom says she is very good in her crate but does have to sometimes put her in, no fussing. Bayou Belle is very good with other dogs, adults, kids, and cats. She walks very well on leash and enjoys her outings with her foster mom and fur sister. We think our lovely lady would do best in a more quiet laid back home as loud noises do tend to startle her. Foster mom says she is the kind of pup who will always stay close by her person so be prepared to have a forever side kick and companion. She loves playing with her foster fur sister and then settling down on a comfy couch for a well deserved nap. Bayou Belle is already spayed, up to date on all vaccinations, and current on preventatives. She is ready to try on her new dancing shoes and waltz right your heart. There is no question she is indeed the belle of the ball, the question is however...will you be the lucky one to escort our beautiful southern 'Belle' to her new forever and loving home?
