Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Drogo! This sweet boy is in recovery in his foster home. The first photo shows how Drogo looked on day one in rescue, and the subsequent photos show how he is improving. The last two are very recent.
You can see how he is coming back to life each and every month that goes by.
Drogo had demodex which is the non-contagious mange. Those little mites had eaten away at all his hair and down to his flesh where he has red and bloody spots from scratching. He is no longer suffering from those little buggers! He was also heart worm positive (which a lot of our dogs are due to owner neglect of not giving the dogs monthly heart worm prevention). Since we got him he has had his two treatments and will most likely have no ill effects at all. These sweet animals just need the proper care and vet attention. They are so loyal and loving- they deserve the very best we can give.
Name: Drogo
Age: Approx. 1-1 1/2 yrs. old
Gender: Male
Mix/Purebred: Purebred
Housetrained: Yes
Crate trained: Yes
Heartworm Negative/Positive: Treated for Heartworms & current on prevention
Spayed/Neutered: Neutered
Micro chipped: Yes
Good with other dogs: Yes
Good with cats: Assessing
Good with children: Yes
He will be ready for adoption very soon. He needed to be healthy again to get neutered and completely vetted. He has gained over 20 lbs since in our care... a little TLC takes care of a lot of things!
His foster says that Drogo is so sweet and gentle and willing to please. He is obedient and has a wonderful bark which will alert to newcomers...that is one of the great traits of the German Shepherd! He has been exploring the foster home and grounds and loves going on walks. She has had him a few months now and we are ready to accept applications.
UPDATE:
He is still super sweet! He needs a lot of attention, exercise and stimuli. He is constantly moving and ready to GO : ). He needs to be in an active household with or without kids, other pets to play with and someone to take time to train and socialize him. He's super sweet but defiantly not a guard dog, gentle giant more like it.
If you are interested in adopting Drogo , please go to our website, copy, paste and complete our adoption application. Email the application to gsdrescuectx@yahoo.com.
