My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

DUALLY: 4-5 Year Old Black Male Neutered 80 Pounds

Dually has been rescued a few times and we want this to be his last time!

He was rescued from the shelter in Southern California as his owner had to go over seas for the military and could not find anyone to take his best friend. A animal sanctuary rescued him as they felt he would make a great bed bug detection dog. Dually did not have the drive they needed so they were going to take him back to the shelter but they contacted a trainer in Northern California who contacted Lab Rescue, to see if we would have a spot for Dually. (Are you still following Dually's path?) The trainer from Southern California brought Dually to the trainer in Northern California. We just took Dually into our program and he is being fostered by one of the lead trainers from Guide Dogs.

This is what we know about Dually:

Dually sleeps well in his crate, he does well with other dogs large and small. (He will hang out in the backyard with the other dogs at the trainers with no issues.) Dually has learned quickly to walk in a heel position with a correction collar, he knows sit, down and has a very soft mouth when taking food or treats! He can be left alone with no issues, does not bark or destroy things and rides well in the car. We think he would be fine in a home with cats. Dually loves to swim and play fetch. He would be a great hiking companion. The one thing with Dually we think he has not been exposed to a lot of things. Example: With the foster when they are out for a walk he will bark at the statues in the yard. The foster will take him up to the statues and show him they are ok and then will give him a treat. (After one pass Dually then is fine.)

His foster home just loves him and hopes he will find a wonderful forever home.

He is located on Petaluma.

Medical:

He has all his shots, he is neutered, he is heartworm negative and he is microchipped. (He is a very healthy boy!)

If you are interested in making sweet Dually part of your pack please, call Rescue Rep Liz 415-613-6374 – liz@jobshopsf.com.

(Please keep in mind we are all volunteers, most of us work full time and we all have personal lives. I do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient and I will be back in touch with you. When the dogs are in foster homes then it may take longer as we need to touch base with the fosters for updates on the dogs. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week and we do not have a facility that we keep the dogs housed in. They are scattered all over the Bay Area.)
