My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

POOKIE is a three year old, mid-length haired cat. He is very affectionate and healthy though he tested positive for FIV upon arrival last year. POOKIE is very laid back and used to living with other cats and dogs. He is a large male who loves human attention and eating! His former owner could not afford to feed or take care of him and put him outside where, because of his docile nature, he was picked on by other cats and contracted the FIV virus.

POOKIE is going to be retested to see if in fact he is still FIV+. FIV is only relevant to cats, no other species, and it is ONLY transmissible via deep-bite wounds. It is NOT transmitted by casual contact! While FIV cats might have a slightly increased risk of infection due to a compromised immune system and perhaps require a slightly longer course of antibiotic treatment to get better, they have about the same chance of living a long life as uninfected cats - so don't deny yourself his love! YOU need this big softie and he needs a loving furrever home !
