Dawn (FC=tw)'s Story...
NO TODDLERS PLEASE - OLDER CHILDREN FINE

FEB 3, 2012:

Dawn is not quite a year old yet, but she already weighs about 75 pounds, has been spayed & is up to date with her shots.  She and her sister Delta are currently living in foster care with quite a few other dogs and 5 cats (that they sometimes nap with).  Both Dawn and Delta are house trained in their foster home and they LOVE people, other dogs, and cats.

They like kids too, but Dawn was frightened of the toddlers in a family that recently took her home with them and tried her out for 2 days. Their two young girls (ages 2 and 5) scared her and she gave them a little warning growl, asking them to leave her alone.  (Keep in mind, she had JUST arrived at their home, EVERYTHING was new to Dawn, and things were moving too fast for her.)   Dawn, however, quickly bonded to the human Mom in that short time, finding comfort in her right away.  Dawn also bonded with their other little dog.  Given time, we are certain that Dawn would have bonded with all members of the family too (even the kids), because Dawn loves people and her timidity was keeping her from showing her true self to them (she was simply stressed by the new situation).  To error on the side of safety for their toddlers, the family returned Dawn.   Knowing this, we now think that Dawn would do best in a family with older children.

Dawn is a smart, young girl who is ready to learn everything her new family would like to teach her.  We don’t know for sure, but we can imagine that she would love to swim.  If you need a lot of love in your life, Dawn could certainly provide you with it.  (Contact her foster mom, Tedi, at 540-456-6519 for more info.)

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Dawn (FC=tw), a Lovingston Golden Retriever/Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Golden Retriever/Labrador Retriever for sale in Lovingston, or seeking a Golden Retriever/Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Lovingston.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Lovingston already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Lovingston breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Golden Retriever/Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Golden Retriever/Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Lovingston paves the way for another one to be saved.
