Facts about Mr. Higgins

  • Breed: Domestic Mediumhair
  • Color: Gray Or Blue (Mostly)
  • Age: Adult
  • Sex: Male
  • Hair: Medium
Mr. Higgins has been through so much in his 6 years of life.
He was abandoned by his family and left out in the cold, scared and lonely. Eventually he was brought to Hamilton Animal Services, his face covered in scabs from street cats beating him up. For 2 months, Mr. Higgins waited in a cage hoping for someone to take him home. And then, one of our volunteers saw him.
Fostering is never easy. Soon after his arrival, Mr. Higgins started scratching his ears until they bled. A visit to the vet confirmed that he had allergies so he was put on a special diet. Like many abandoned cats who do not know when their next meal might be, Mr. Higgins started eating and drinking a lot. Still foster mom sensed that something else was wrong. Another visit to the vet revealed that something he ate while outside had blocked his intestine and he was basically “bursting from the inside” because he was eating so much but it wasn’t digesting. Surgery resolved this problem and Mr. Higgins is recuperating with his foster mom. However, futing the pre surgical tests, the vet discovered that Mr. Higgins has diabetes. Cats, like people, can live normal and long lives with diabetes. It can be successfully managed by insulin shots and checking blood sugar levels.
Mr. Higgins had been through so much and his foster mom says “He is the sweetest boy in the world with not an aggressive bone in his body. He just wants to love and be loved. All I wish for him is a forever home. So I ask you to ask around to see if anyone is willing to adopt him along with his special diet and his insulin shots.
”Aw, wouldn’t it be loverly?
Mr. Higgins is currently with his foster mom. If you are interested in adopting this sweet guy, please contact us at info@ninthlifecstrescue.org
