Take a look at this handsome boy! Barney is approximately 3-4 years old and appears to be a Treeing Walker Coonhound. Barney gets along with dogs, cats, and kids. Since he is a hound, he can be a talker, especially when he wants to go outside. He would be a good indoor/outdoor dog to keep you company no matter where you are.  If you’re interested in Barney, we ask that you bring your entire family, including dogs, to meet him to ensure he is a right fit for your family and your family is the right fit for him.

If you are interested in adopting Barney, please visit him at Animal Welfare Friends shelter in Monticello, Iowa.  The shelter is open Tuesday through Saturday from 12:30 to 6:30 PM.

This pet’s adoption fee is $175. The fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm test, heartworm preventative, treatment for a variety of intestinal parasites and vaccinations. A home visit is part of our adoption process. To complete our online adoption application, please click here.

Breed Disclosure: Due to the fact that most of our adoptable pets are strays, we cannot guarantee their breed. We list the pet’s breed as the one that best matches the physical appearance, temperament, and personality of the animal. The pet may also be listed as a mix when it’s actually a purebred.

Our Adoption Process...

*Most of our dogs' adoption fees are $175 unless stated otherwise. Our cat adoption fees are $75. We have an all volunteer staff so your entire fee goes towards saving AWF's rescue animals. If your donation covers that pet's medical costs, then the remainder of your donation will go towards helping save another homeless pet!
