Tiger's Story...
Tiger is a magnificent but shy 6 year old boy, half Persian and half tabby, who was left at the shelter when his owner moved away somewhere that Tiger couldn't go.

He is doing well with the other cats in our shy cat room, and is also dog-tolerant. Most of his day is spent as a hidden tree-cat, peering out of a box up on a high shelf in his room. He is not pleased about leaving the remote indoor-outdoor home with acreage where he spent his first 6 years, but he allows us to climb up to his box and bring him down for snuggles, during which he purrs and eventually relaxes.

All this handsome boy needs is a home with people who will give him some high spots from which to observe the household, and the patience to let him be himself and adjust gradually to his new surroundings. Although his fluffy coat gives him the appearance of a high maintenance cat, we find that just a minute or two of brushing a few times a week keeps his coat in good condition (though if he goes to an indoor-outdoor home, more coat maintenance will be required to remove grass seeds and burrs that he finds while exploring).

He does have a "flatter" face than most cats, due to his Persian ancestry, but doesn't have the totally squishy features of a full Persian. Any of your friends and family that are lucky enough to catch a glimpse of your shy companion will probably say what all the shelter visitors say - "OH! He is GORGEOUS!!" Tiger doesn't know he is gorgeous (and wouldn't care if he did), he just knows that he is homeless and lonely and would like someone new to give him a reason to leave his safety box. Are you Tiger's dream person?

All cats arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and with all age-appropriate vaccinations. Adoption fee for Tiger is suggested minimum $40 (more gratefully accepted). All pets are placed with a 30-day money-back trial period, to give pet and family enough time to discover any unknown allergies or other conflicts. Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! We have monthly transports to both the Seattle area and Spokane, delivering adopted pets to their new owners. If you can add a little to your donation to help us cover our volunteer driver's expenses, that would be great!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Tiger, a Republic Domestic Longhair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Longhair for sale in Republic, or seeking a Domestic Longhair cat from a breeder in Republic.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Republic already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Republic breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Longhair breeders who help with Domestic Longhair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Republic paves the way for another one to be saved.
