Miss Lilly is a sassy and playful gal who would love a forever home with a male buddy (she's not a fan of other female dogs) to play with! Check out our Facebook page to see a video where she is with Barney, the resident pup, having a great time! Lilly loves to go on walks, has great house manners, and loves to relax on the couch. If interested in adopting Lilly, please submit an application at www.weimrescue.com. Lilly is about 7 years old.

Lilly may be a gorgeous girl, but she's truly a tomboy at heart! Lilly loves wrestling with her foster brother, Barney. Lilly lets Barney think he has the upper hand, but she's really the boss! Lilly is a 6-7yo female weim who is looking for her forever home. Lilly is playful, very well mannered, and an absolute joy in her foster home. If interested in adopting Lilly, or any of our rescue pups, please submit an application at www.weimrescue.com.

It's definitely the dog days of summer down South; we've been riding a stifling heat wave for several weeks. Our rescue pups are finding different ways to deal with the oppressive heat, though.  Lilly is taking a much more laid back approach to beat the Louisiana heat, staying inside (with the air conditioning!) and lounging on the couch! Lilly is available for adoption and is about 6-7 years old, has fantastic house manners, and is a sweet, smart girl. If interested, please submit an application at www.weimrescue.com.

Look who is a water girl! Lilly is enjoying summer swimming at her foster home while she waits for her forever home. Lilly is about 6-7 years old and loves to play with her foster brother. She also has great house manners and enjoys going for walks and hikes. If you are looking an active, but not hyper, weim, Lilly is the girl for you! If interested, please submit an application for adoption at www.weimrescue.com.

If you are interested in adopting Lilly or any of our rescue pups, please submit an application at www.weimrescue.com.

The past two weeks have been VERY challenging for WRS; we've taken in 3 heartworm positive dogs and have committed to two others that will be joining us soon. WRS has taken in 20 dogs this year; the financial burden is tremendous. If you can generously donate $5, $10 or $20, we would greatly appreciate it! Lilly is doing GREAT in her foster home. She's a little too busy playing with her foster brother Barney (not a weim, he's a fawn Doberman) to give us an update herself, but her foster mom says Lilly is a great girl who is very sweet, very affectionate, crate trained, has excellent house manners, and is happy to snuggle up on the couch. Lilly is about 6 years old and is looking for her forever home. If interested, please submit an application at www.weimrescue.com!

Lilly just keeps smiling! She was so excited to get out of boarding and move to her foster home! She enjoyed checking out the new digs and she made herself right at home on her foster mom's bed! Lilly was even interested in the pool; we may have a swimmer on our hands! If interested in adopting Lilly, please submit an application at www.weimrescue.com. If you haven't, be sure to check out WRS's Spring Cleaning Auction - https://www.facebook.com/weimaranerrescueofthesouth/photos/…. All proceeds raised will go toward taking care of wonderful weims like Lilly!

We are looking forward to getting great updates from her foster family! If interested in adopting Lilly, please submit an application at www.weimrescue.com.

Miss Lilly is also being a rock star with her heartworm treatment. This video was taken several days ago; she's got about 10 days left of exercise restrictions and then she'll be ready for a foster or forever home, too. You can see from the video what a sweet, affectionate, gentle girl she is; she is soaking up the love and attention. Lilly is about 6 years old and came to WRS from a Louisiana shelter. If interested in Lilly, please submit an application at www.weimrescue.com.

Beautiful Lilly is doing well and will be starting her heartworm treatment next week. We've increased her food intake and she's gained a few pounds and looks great. Lilly would love to be someone's lap dog and best friend once she completes her heartworm treatment. Lilly should complete her treatment in early April. Lilly is 6 years old, very sweet, and very well mannered. If interested in adopting or fostering Lilly once she's been medically cleared, please submit an application at www.weimrescue.com.

Please welcome Lilly to WRS! Lilly is a 6yo, HW+ female who was rescued from a Louisiana shelter. Lilly was a fantastic car rider on her freedom trip. Lilly will be treated for heartworms before she can be ready for adoption. Please consider sponsoring Lilly's heartworm treatment!

About Weimaraner Rescue of the South

About Our Rescue Group...

Weimaraner Rescue of the South (WRS) is an all-volunteer, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to saving Weimaraners in need in Alabama, Mississippi, and parts of Louisiana, Tennessee, and Georgia and placing them into loving forever homes. We have been saving Weimaraners throughout our footprint for more than 10 years.

Our priority is to rescue Weimaraners who find themselves in animal controls and high-kill shelters in Alabama, Mississippi, and parts of Tennessee, Louisiana, and Georgia. All Weimaraners in our care are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and treated for any medical issues they might have including but not limited to heartworm disease, orthopedic concerns, and vision issues. Our efforts are funded by adoption fees and donations from "Weim-loving" people like you.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We are not a shelter, therefore, we are not in one central location. We place our dogs in loving foster homes throughout the deep South so we can learn about each one enabling us to adopt them to their perfect family. Alabama hosts the majority of our rescues although we do have foster homes throughout our Southern footprint. Our dogs are not available for visitors unless an adoption application has been approved for them specifically.

Our Adoption Process...

Are you ready to adopt? Make sure you do your homework on this breed before taking this step as this is not the breed for the average household and you must be committed to their needs as well as your own. Still want to add a Weimaraner to your family? Great! Fill out a WRS Adoption Application to begin the adoption process with us. You will be contacted by one of our volunteers to begin the approval process which includes a veterinary background check, phone interview, and home visit.

ADOPTION FEES: EFFECTIVE FEBRUARY 1, 2016 OUR ADOPTION FEE FOR PUPPIES 6 MONTHS AND YOUNGER IS $375 WITH A $100 REFUNDABLE SPAY/NEUTER CONTRACT, $300 FOR ADULT WEIMARANERS, SENIORS AND MIXED BREEDS $225. This includes microchip, spay/neuter, and Heartworm prevention. All dogs have been fully vetted and treated for any medical issues of which we are aware.
