Facts about Speckles Adelaide

  • Breed: Domestic Shorthair
  • Color: Tortoiseshell
  • Age: Kitten
  • Sex: Female
  • Hair: Short
Speckles is a grey/brown tortie, approx 2 1/2 months. She was rescued off the streets from someone trying to sell her for what her rescuers think was for dog bait. She was thought to have ringworm but is healing so fast from her treatments that we think it may have been a really mild case. She is scheduled to be spayed on Feb 12th and will have her fur rechecked then. She should be ready to go home once she is medically cleared.

She is SUPER affectionate and loves to be held and rub her face all over your face. She's really playful, and she gets along with older cats but would really benefit from having another young playmate given how playful she is. She's really vocal and loves to talk and runs to the door whenever you come into the room. But she can be a bit of an escape artist when she's hyper and excited so you have to keep your eye on her near an open door or window!

Her adoption fee of $85 includes her spay, microchip, age-appropriate shots, virus testing, and general exam. To meet this girl, please email She is in a foster home and not one of our physical shelters.

About Tree House Humane Society

About Our Shelter...

Tree House is a humane organization that promotes the inherent value of every animal and strives to educate the public about proper and responsible animal care, with a focus on the care and placement of stray cats with special physical and emotional needs. We are committed to finding every healthy and treatable animal a home.

Tree House was founded in 1971 and since that time we have expanded and enhanced our programs and services to become the largest, no-kill, cageless shelter for sick, injured, abused and neglected cats in the Chicagoland area. To date we have found homes for nearly 14,000 cats. In addition to our focus on the rehabilitation and adoption of stray cats, we offer many other valuable programs and services, including our Free Spay/Neuter Program, Pet Loss Grief Support Group, Humane Investigations Team, Youth Volunteer Program, Animal-Assisted Therapy, Behavior Hotline, Pet Food Pantry, and Education Outreach Program.

Our Adoption Process...

At Tree House, trained adoption counselors interview prospective adopters to understand their needs, and then adopters are escorted to the Adoption Floor to choose their future friend. Adopters are encouraged to take as much time as they need to find a cat. All adoption applications stay on file for three months so please don't feel that you need to rush to choose a companion cat right away.

Your adoption fee of $85 covers the cost of your cat's care at Tree House including: spay or neuter, deworming, flea treatment, FIV and FeLV testing, AVID microchip, veterinary examination, and all necessary vaccinations. We also give a 30-day health guarantee on all of our adoptions.
