You know you've got an awesome dog when so many people go to so many lengths to save her. The first miracle came when River was found by a good Samaritan, hanging around the river bottoms of the Arkansas river . . . which is how she earned her name. The poor girl had a prolapsed uterus which had to have been so painful for her. The person took her to the Emergency vet clinic, basically to be put to sleep because they didn't want to see her suffer trying to survive at the river bottoms. Because of her gently wagging tail, soft eyes, and sweet, loving temperament despite her discomfort, the staff at the E-clinic fell in love with River and didn't have the heart to make that her last day on earth. So along came her second miracle: the vet spayed her and repaired her uterus, and now River good as new and so grateful to everyone! She's been playing with all the dogs at the low-kill shelter where she's waiting for her third miracle: A home of her own. She doesn't miss a beat running and playing with the other dogs, blending right in with the old, the young, the big, the small, the boys and the girls! She is a real people-lover, too, which is why we know the real miracle will be for her family, for having found a girl this awesome.
