Susie's Story...
Hi There! My name is Susie and I'm a lovely lady who arrived as a stray in early September 2015. I have a cage-mate/ friend named Cornwell who I love to groom and snuggle with. Cornwell and I have both tested positive for FIV, but before you decide to overlook us, please hear me out! FIV is kind of like human’s HIV. It is a virus that depletes the number of white blood cells, which makes harder for me to be able to fight off infection/sickness. FIV cannot be passed from cat to person, but there is a slim possibility I could infect another cat. FIV is most commonly spread through deep bite wounds and not easily passed otherwise. Just as a precaution, I am searching for a home without other cats, unless my new feline sibling(s) also have FIV (or you can adopt Cornwell AND me since we already love each other). If I am the only cat in the home, there is no chance I could infect another cat, and there would be no other cats in contact with me to compromise my immune system. Please research FIV and discuss any concerns with your veterinarian before deciding to adopt me.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Susie, a Menomonie Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Menomonie, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Menomonie.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Menomonie already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Menomonie breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Menomonie paves the way for another one to be saved.
