Skylar's Story...
Welcome Skyler - a petite female wire-haired dachshund. She is about 2-3 years old & weighs about 8 lbs. She's a bit under weight right now - we think she'll finish out at about 10 lbs.

If you are interested in adopting Skyler you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to s
Skyler's adoption fee is $500.00 All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Skyler will go to her new home microchipped, altered, heartworm tested, and up to date on vaccinations. Most dogs' veterinary expenses are greater than our adoption fees.

DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group, and we focus on the Atlanta, North Georgia and Savannah area. Because we are all volunteers, we can consider applications only within an hour of these areas. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Skylar, a Decatur Dachshund dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund for sale in Decatur, or seeking a Dachshund dog from a breeder in Decatur.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Decatur already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Decatur breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund breeders who help with Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Decatur paves the way for another one to be saved.
