Marie was picked up as a stray near the beach and taken to Animal Care. This sweet girl was absolutely terrified there and staff begged for rescue to take her. When we saw she was not aggressive just scared to death we knew we had to help. She had to go to a foster as our center was the same as animal care. Well after just a few days with her foster dad and the resident dogs and cats Marie just blossomed! She loves to run in the backyard, play with toys and her special activity is helping mother foster pups! The one problem is Marie is terrified of everyone except her foster dad. We know she could be a wonderful family dog but she needs the right family to work with her and give her the extra love and security she needs. For more information on Marie please email us at

PLEASE NOTE: We require all interested parties to come to the shelter to meet the pet, complete an adoption application, and interview with our Director. We do not do same day adoptions or ship animals. For additional information on our adoption policies, visiting hours and directions please go to Abandoned Pet Rescue.

About Abandoned Pet Rescue, Inc.

About Our Shelter...

Abandoned Pet Rescue is a 501 ( c ) (3) IRS tax-exempt, qualified charitable organization that rescues, shelters, and cares for countless abandoned and abused animals and finds them new homes. We have been serving the South Florida community since 1996. Our no-kill animal shelter is located in Ft. Lauderdale, where volunteers of all ages help perform the duties of running the shelter and our operations on a day-to-day basis, creating a mutually beneficial relationship between animals and the community. By conducting neighborhood sweeps, APR helps reduce the pet over population by spaying and neutering feral cats with the use of a mobile veterinary facility.
