My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi!! My name is Maggie. I was thrown into a high kill shelter with my litter of pups. Luckily my sweet babies got rescued the day we entered but they left me there. I had an awful gash through the palm of my paw. He hurt so bad and bled constantly. Another rescue lady came to visit me to give me medicine and all it took was for me to look her in the eyes crying out for help. I heard her say, I am full at home but I will find a way, lets load her up. Thank goodness they did because my paw was getting more infected and after a vet check, I was tested heartworm positive. When she came to pick me up she looked me in the eyes and said no worry Maggie (aw now I have a name) I will take care of you and we will get you all better. I knew then my life was about to change.

Fast forward to today. I am finally heartworm NEGATIVE. I am around 2.5 yr old Anatolian Shepherd mix and finally weighing at around 45 pounds. It took me forever to gain weight due to the heartworms just wore my body down now I am finally keeping my weight on. I think I am looking great and my foster mom tells me that a lot too along with that I am one special girl in her eyes. She loves that I have one black eye and one brown eye. She says it makes me unique. Thing is too, when my paw was trying to get better. It was too late by time my foster mom got me and the infection deteriorated two of my bones in my paw, so now my foot doesn’t exactly look like the other but it’s all healed now. Now to tell you a little of what I like to do. I love it when my foster mom takes me on walks in the woods. I am a very loyal girl and will never leave her side. I can be protective over her with other dogs but I just get it honest. its in my breed. I just really want all her attention to myself. I don’t mean no harm but this is my first time being loved, so I really like every bit of attention I can get. So if I could be in a home where its just me to be loved and have all the attention…well I would really like that. I have been around both of her kids and I do love those two also. One is a small child and the other one is a bit older. I hope for news from my foster mom soon that she has found me my perfect home..til that day comes I will enjoy my walks with her and patiently wait for my a home to call my own.
I am fully vetted, spayed, heartworm negative, microchipped and on monthly preventatives. I am being fostered in Tennessee but my foster moms rescue transports out of state as well and she will be with you every step of the way to make sure I will be a perfect fit for you and your family.
