My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Birdie. Birdie’s life before she came to Dogs On Borrowed Time Rescue was not great. There is no way to know just how much she had to endure in her life. Birdie joined our rescue in November after she was left tied to a dumpster at a family restaurant. She was dumped like trash. She was extremely thin and her body showed signs of neglect. Her face was clearly swollen, from what we didn’t know at the time. We took her to the vet and it was discovered she had a tumor in her mouth. The vet originally thought it was cancer. This devastated us. Thankfully the tumor was benign. She was most likely hit or kicked hard in the face causing this. She had an abscess tooth as well as a broken tooth. Birdie received a complete dental and all of this was taken care of. It was also discovered with x-rays that she had been shot some time in her life. Bless her heart. We are beyond blessed to have rescued Birdie. She has proven to be a total love. She is a gentle soul. How anyone could abuse her is beyond me.

Birdie is an English Coonhound and her birthday is estimated to be 11/10/2009. She is house and crate trained. She does not love the crate and will bark that beautiful hound dog bark until she settles every time. She loves to play with my personal dogs and my other foster dogs. She gets along great with everyone. She is currently around dogs ranging from 9lbs and up. She has been around kids and does very well. Birdie is a lazy girl who loves to lie around and just hang out. She is a loyal companion and loves to be in the company of her human. She walks excellent on a leash and she loves to ride in the car. She walks right out to the car and jumps in and is ready to go. She usually just lays down in the backseat after she checks everything out and snoozes, lazy I tell you. The way Birdie sleeps makes me smile. She always sleeps with her tongue sticking out, always. She snores too. She loves to sleep snuggled up beside you and sleeps sound though out the night. She does not budge until you do and if you are an early riser she stays in bed for a while. If you are looking for someone to keep you company and loves being with you, Birdie is your girl. She will never leave you. She loves treats. She will take her treat and go outside to eat it or she will go lay in bed to eat it. Looking into Birdie’s eyes is like looking directly into her soul. She has so much love to give. Despite her life before rescue she holds no grudge towards humans. She has a forgiving heart.

Birdie is up to date on vaccinations, spayed, heartworm negative, micro-chipped and on monthly preventatives. Birdie is ready for her forever home. She loves her foster home very much but deserves her own family. Could Birdie be the girl you have been looking for? If you are interested in adopting Birdie please email us at dogsonborrowedtime@outlook.com.

**Please note Birdie is being fostered in Tennessee. We do transport out of state but you would not be able to meet her prior to adoption. We know it is difficult not meeting the dog before you make a decision but we will do everything possible to make sure she is the perfect match for you and your family. We will be with you every step of the way. Her adoption fee which includes transport is $375
