Hi I’m Bella. You may know that Bella means beautiful. I don’t want to sound vain, but my name really suits me. I’m tan and white, and I look a little bit like a creampuff. I’m sweet like a creampuff too! I love people, especially when they give me belly rubs. I’m not shy about asking for one either – I’ll roll right over like a dog. I was born in 2005, so I’m not a crazy kitten anymore – I’m a loveable, cuddly gal. I get along with other cats, but I haven’t spent any time with dogs, so I don’t know if I’ll like them or not. I have lived at the shelter for quite a while now and would love to have a home that suits my unique attributes. You see since I came here I have lost what vision I had in my remaining eye. I have also been adopted a few times and returned for behavioral issues. I do have a small issue with using the box but I'm sure with the Cat Attract litter I could be a little better. Along with a special diet for kidney function I receive fluids every other day as well as two pills. I have recently been diagnosed as a carrier of ringworm. I was in a room with other kitties and there were no cases of it transferring to them or people who visited us. There would still need to be precautions put into place in a home. When I was a kitten, a nice lady found me as a stray near the Coliseum. When she found me, I was missing an eye. I get along fine without it, and it just gives me a sense of mystery – don’t you think? Sadly, the nice lady who rescued me had to go to a care center, and that’s how I wound up at MaxFund. Don’t get me wrong, I like it here, but as Dorothy said, “there’s no place like home.” Could it be yours?

About MaxFund No-Kill Animal Shelter

About Our Shelter...

The MaxFund is a non-profit organization that was established in May of 1988 to provide medical care for injured pets with no known owners, and to seek out new homes for these animals once they have recovered. The MaxFund is a no-kill dog and cat shelter. MaxFund assists hundreds of people and animals each year by trying to make the correct match between owner and pet. MaxFund adopts our animals to Colorado residents only.

The MaxFund is a TRUE no-kill shelter. There is no pre-sorting of animals into "adoptable" and "non-adoptable" categories, discarding the so-called "unadoptable." The MaxFund takes every animal it has the space for. EVERY animal is kept until its owner is found or it is placed in a new adoptive home.

Our Adoption Process...

Adoption fees:

Cats: $25
Kittens (under 12 months): $75
Dogs: $125
Puppies (under 6 months) $200
Dogs over 8 years: $75

All applicants will be asked to submit the names and phone numbers of 3 personal references (relatives don't count), the name and phone number of your veterinarian if you have one, the name and phone number of your landlord (if applicable) and information about your current living situation. We also require that all immediate family members meet the animal prior to adoption to ensure compatibility. We would hate to adopt an animal into a family and later find out the dog doesn't like the kids or the husband doesn't like the animal, etc. You can print out an application on our website at

If you are interested in adopting a dog and have filled out an application, MaxFund will ask you to bring any currently owned dogs to the shelter for a “meet-and-greet” to ensure they can stand each other before they become a family. Because we examine adoption applications carefully and contact all references, same-day adoptions are extremely rare and should not be expected!
