Ginger's Story...
Hi everybody, I'm Ginger! My sister, Snap, and I were living in a very cold cage at the pound when a nice volunteer from HHS rescued us. Now we're enjoying life in a warm and cozy foster home. I just have to say, having a foster home is so much better than that cage at the pound! This new indoor life has been pretty great so far. My foster mom gives me all the pets and belly rubs I want, and there are endless bowls of food! Next stop, a forever home!

I'm a pretty laid back kitten, sunbathing in sun spots is one of my favorite ways to pass the time. But I am still a kitten, so I of course love to play. My favorite toys are the ones with the bells in them. I love to hear them make noise!

I would love to find a forever home that has fun toys for me to play with, soft beds for me to snuggle up in, and most importantly, people who will give me lots of love and attention. Does that sound like your house?

If you'd like to meet me, please email cats@henricohumane.org to setup a visit. Don't forget to tell them you want to meet Ginger!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Ginger, a Richmond Domestic Shorthair kitten was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Richmond, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair kitten from a breeder in Richmond.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Richmond already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Richmond breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Richmond paves the way for another one to be saved.
