Sofia is a sweet and cuddly 8-year-old, 33-pound Beagle mix looking for her soul mate! She was adopted from AFRP as a puppy and is now looking for a new home where she can go for lots of walks and get lots of love and attention. Sofia is house trained and knows her basic obedience commands. She has lived with other dogs and cats, but would prefer to be a single pet in the home. Sofia is very smart, very affectionate (and sometimes very stubborn)!  She'll do best with an adopter with good dog handling skills and plenty of time to enjoy her company. Sofia is currently in foster care in Santa Cruz.

About Animal Friends Rescue Project

About Our Rescue Group...

AFRP is a nonprofit organization dedicated to finding good permanent homes for stray, abandoned, and abused companion animals. We are also dedicated to ending the companion animal overpopulation problem through focussed spay/neuter programs.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Animal Friends Rescue Project has a main adoption center and many satellite adoption sites. Our Main Adoption Center is located at 560 Lighthouse Ave in Pacific Grove. We are open Tuesday through Saturday 12-5. Adoptable cats are always on site. We also bring 5-10 adoptable dogs to the center from shelters or their foster homes on a daily basis. If you are interested in meeting a specific dog from our website, please call 333-0722 or email Check our website for a complete listing of our satellite adoption sites, dates of our adoption days, and dogs and cats available for adoption (

Our Adoption Process...

The adoption fee for a cat is $150 which includes their spay/neuter, vaccines, microchipping, and FIV/FeLV testing. The adoption fee is $200-$300. The adoption fee helps to cover the cost of the care the animal has received, including spay/neuter, vaccines, microchipping, deworming, and flea treatment.

All potential adopters complete an application and are screened using a standardized series of questions by a trained adoption counselor. If the application and screening are satisfactory, a qualified adopter can complete a contract, pay the adoption fee and take the animal home.
