Nugent's Story...
I'm named after Ted Nugent, although I don't have cat scratch fever -- I just like the song. Just before I was born, my Mom and Dad found a house in the country with chickens and goats and some people who took them in.  My Mom surprised the people with me and the rest of the litter of kittens and there were just too many of us at the house.  We had to leave Mom and Dad (who won't be having any more kittens) and go out in the world to be adopted by a loving home.  I am an explorer and like to check out everything.  I'm independent and playful.  I'll romp with my siblings then settle down for some attention at the end of a purr-fect day.  I live with two dogs and adult cats and get along with all of them.  I am also litter box trained.

LCHS standard adoption fee is $90, which helps cover the cost of exams, vaccinations, and spay/neuter, and allows us to keep saving pets!  We will work with adopters for reduced fees, especially when they are adopting multiple pets.

If pets are adopted before sterilization, we are required by the state to collect a spay/neuter bond ($50) which is refunded upon proof of sterilization within 6 months.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Nugent, a Lansing Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Lansing, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Lansing.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Lansing already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Lansing breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Lansing paves the way for another one to be saved.
